Anecdotes and real life stories about the humorous side of living in a multi-cultural world.

The culture corner: Introduction

Writings about things about ones own culture that they hold dear. These could be events in the cultural history of a group that they witnessed, spaces from their birth country, that they would want to take their kids to, events from their culture that they would never miss but that others find baffling. It could also be about more intangible, hard to explain things like cultural values, and how they as parents grapple with the notion of imparting it to their children. photo essays could be also an excellent addition to these.

Recipes for recuperation: Introduction

Most cultures have a set of foods that women should have while they are pregnant and after delivery, so that recovery becomes faster. the idea for this section making a cross cultural library of recipes to dip into when one is starved for some healing food.

A quilt for grandma: Introduction

This section would initially consist of photographs of our grandmother. If we could accompany it with character sketches or simple things that they said which one thinks are now profound, that would be great.
The idea of collecting these photographs is to eventually make a huge collage, or other pieces of art that the blogger community builds together as a statement of gratitude for their efforts in raising us.

Ritual songs/ chants: Introduction

Special songs that are sung by the community to celebrate the birth of a child, or at special occasions during pregnancy, after the child is a year old etc.

Limericks: Introduction

Tongue twisters, songs that talk about the land that the contributor grew up in, songs that are like verbal puzzles etc.
